Public Health Good Practice Scheme

The Public Health Wales Good Practice Scheme is changing

Following an external evaluation it has been decided to discontinue the Public Health Wales Good Practice Scheme in its current format. As such, we are not inviting applications for assessment to the current scheme at this time.

Instead of an external assessment panel we will be developing an online toolkit which projects can download to develop their own self-assessment process. We also hope to establish a broader ‘Shared Practice’ database where projects will be able to submit in a similar way to the existing good practice database, to share their learning with others as well as being able to highlight their work.

We will update this page as soon as the online toolkit and database is ready. In the meantime if you have any questions please contact [email protected] or [email protected]

Could you benefit from gaining support in developing your initiative towards good practice?

Would you like to raise the profile of your work and gain recognition for your achievements?

Do you believe that there is a benefit to sharing your practice and learning from others practice – that in sharing we succeed?

The Physical Activity and Nutrition Networks Wales in collaboration with the All Wales Sexual Health Network and the All Wales Mental Health Promotion Network are now accepting submissions for the Public Health Good Practice Scheme.

The Public Health Good Practice Scheme is an approach that supports all practitioners, organisations and sectors involved health promotion, health improvement and community health development initiatives in the fields of nutrition and physical activity, mental health promotion and sexual health. The scheme consists of a good practice database, quality mark, awards and provision of support. It rewards good practice and will provide a systematic approach to sharing information about initiatives on the scheme in order to prevent duplication, enhance learning and enable decisions about what initiatives to adopt or develop.

The scheme was launched at regional workshops in October and November 2010 following a successful pilot earlier in the year.

The presentations from the workshops are available to download:

Report from Regional Launch Workshops

There are considerable benefits for participants including:

  • Reflecting on and learning from practice
  • Gaining feedback from peer review, with signposting on how to further towards good practice
  • Raising the profile of the submitted initiative, the organisation and the sector
  • Using the quality mark and receiving a national award
  • Building relationships with other initiatives
  • Helping to promote evidence based practice and advancing the aspiration of the Networks.

For further information please download the information booklet, which includes frequently asked questions.

Please fill in the questionnaire in order to participate in the scheme and return to Catherine Evans or Rebecca Winslade
