Change4Life

Change4Life, the social marketing programme from England designed to help people make changes to their lifestyles, so that they can eat well, move more and live longer is being brought to Wales.

The Welsh Assembly Government will position Change4Life as a sub-brand of Health Challenge Wales for addressing physical activity and healthy eating.

The first phase of bringing Change4Life to Wales was a series of workshops for partners during February to explain the components of the social marketing campaign and support available for local partners.

An ambitious new advertising campaign that will help families eat well, move more and live longer will hit television screens, billboards, public transport and newspapers in March 2010. The aim of the campaign is to kickstart a lifestyle revolution for every family in order to halt the rising tide of obesity.

In its efforts to improve the health of young families, the Welsh Assembly Government is launching Change4Life / Newid am Oes in Wales and challenging people to lead more active lives and develop better eating habits.

In order to sign up and receive the tailored action plan, parents should look out for the questionnaire being distributed to primary school children over the next few weeks. They can also get a questionnaire by calling the Change4Life contact centre on 0800 100 900 or they can complete it on-line on the Change4Life website.

Change4Life is also asking any organisation that comes into contact with families to sign up and become a supporter of this new campaign. When they do, they can access materials, logos and branding that will help them talk to families about eating and activity levels. The will also be given ideas and support on how to help families become more healthy. Again organisations can sign up by visiting the Change4Life website or by phoning the Change4Life contact centre.
