Cancer Research UK Reduce the Risk

The Reduce the Risk campaign is run by Cancer Research UK and was launched in January 2005. The campaign aims to raise awareness about cancer prevention and early diagnosis.

The campaign plans to:

  • Work with the media and local professionals to raise awareness of cancer prevention
  • Provide information to the public about how to reduce their cancer risk, through the internet, leaflets and posters
  • Encourage the government to continue to make healthy choices easier for everybody
  • Communicate the findings of our research into the causes of cancer.

Reduce the Risk highlights five important ways you can lower your cancer risk; stop smoking, stay in shape, eat and drink healthily, be SunSmart and look after number one. Resources are available aimed at the public, health professionals and schools.

If you want to find out more about the campaign then click on http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/healthyliving/reducetherisk.

Reduce the risk resources are aimed at the public, health professionals and schools.

Cancer Research UK welcomes any member of the public to step inside the Reduce the Risk Roadshow to find out how to lead a healthier life and reduce the risk of cancer.

The Roadshow provides an opportunity to:

  • talk to a nurse in a private consultation room
  • get written cancer prevention and early detection resources
  • play an interactive quiz
  • put your lungs to the test using 'smokelisers'
  • find out about local health promotion services.

It will be touring Wales from September 2007 to April 2008, visiting towns and cities.  Cancer Research is asking for health professionals with good knowledge of their local area and its services to join the team for a day. For more information email [email protected] or telephone 020 7061 6031 or visit the Reduce the Risk Roadshow webpage.
