Age Concern Cymru Keep Well this Winter

Keep Well This Winter is a campaign which aims to provide information and support to people aged 65 and over to enable them to keep well this winter.

The campaign, which runs from September to February, is organised by the Welsh Assembly Government and brings together a range of initiatives, from government and the voluntary sector, into one concerted programme.
The three Keep Well This Winter themes are:

  • Keep well
  • Keep warm
  • Keep safe.

For more information please visit www.kwtw.org.uk. The KWTW website contains information covering the three themes, including advice on keeping active throughout the Winter months. You can also access local resources, as well as a range of leaflets. Resources provided by the campaign include a range of leaflets providing advice and information, e.g. a Flu Fact Sheet and Eat Well: a guide to healthy eating for the over 60’s.

The National Public Health Service for Wales has undertaken an evaluation of the 2006/ 2007 Keep Well This Winter campaign.

The Food Standards Agency has produced a four-page bilingual leaflet: 'Stock up your Store Cupboard for Winter' as part of the Keep Well this Winter campaign for distribution at events with older people. The leaflet outlines how to be well prepared over the winter months including tips on basic store cupboard or freezer items which it can be important to store during bad weather or ill health.

The leaflet can be downloaded from the Food Standards agency Keep Well this Winter website at www.food.gov.uk/news/newsarchive/2006/sep/kwtw2006.
