Funding for Community Initiatives

Finding funding for community food and physical initiatives and being involved in making them work is a rewarding process and as with all rewarding processes some hard work is needed initially.

The SAUCE toolkit has been produced by Sustain and is the online social enterprise toolkit for community food projects
Social enterprises are projects or businesses with social objectives, they charge for a service and use the profit for community good or to re-invest into the service. Social enterprise offers community food projects the potential to achieve a level of financial sustainability.

The Wales Council for Voluntary Action produce several information sheets about funding:

Applying for Funding gives a proposed structure for a funding application, for use when trusts or foundations do not provide forms or guidance. This Information sheet also gives tips on how to identify funding.

Filling in application forms - twelve handy hints has been put together by applicants themselves during a series of training courses on filling in application forms.
